When I saw this at another site for voting, I suggested the very same thing I’m about to suggest now:
Lose the guy. He’s too cartoonish for the design. Focus specifically on the crane. Further still, expand upon the design to make the crane’s gears and such be more intricate. The bird, itself is what makes the piece. The guy, however, detracts from it and ruins the piece.
