Thanks for the warm welcome! I think I got this idea when I saw a nature documentary about little fish swarms pretending to be a much bigger fish together. I thought this would work with little pirates as well: They just need to gather together and pretend they are a much bigger pirate. Also: What is better than many little pirates? That’s right – one gigantic pirates made of many little ones.

If you would, give these landlubbers an idea of what you do in a typical day.

I am a freelance illustrator and cartoonist. I get up from my bed and my workplace is right in front of my nose. After working the whole day on comics, fan art, assignments for clients and shirts, I usually dive into some sort of nerdy activity such as playing RPGs or computer games. I also like to do really unusual stuff such being an extra in a zombie movie (ok, only once so far), or lately, in a Barbarian Hip-Hopara.

We ransacked your bunk and discovered your sketchbook. What wonderful treasures would we find within?

You’d find a lot of illustrations and comics inspired by classic animation, French comics and classic art. I love to embrace cinematic feelings in my work and I have a talent to create quite cute characters but with a slight evil, weird spin. You’d find lots of monster drawings and many nerdy things, ninjas, more pirates and D&D creatures and heroes. You’d find many shirts, some comics I published and children’s books. I am currently working on my first big comic collaboration with my friend Becky and Dan – we are creating an epic fantasy-horror-noir-comedy with a kick-ass female lead. One of the most recent great things that happened was that I was one of 15 winners of the South Park fan art contest.

Yo ho, fiddledy dee, you are a pirate! As such, you can only carry one thing off the boat in a rush. Do you take the rum, or the treasure?

The smart answer would be treasure. But if it’s an abandoned island I’d take the rum to make my last days there more bearable. Also, naturally I would blurt out silly Johnny Depp quotes every five seconds with rum in my hands, which would make me the popular pirate in the group. I also always dreamed of making a pirate crossover with Lord of the Flies, so I would steal somebody’s glasses and put a dead pig head on a stick and….ok, I should stop now.

Surely you know all about the pirates. Which one, real or fake, is your favorite and why?

That is the easiest answer in the world. Really. Nobody is better, smarter, stronger and more handsome than Guybrush Thropwould…uhm…Threptime….Treeshould…..THREEPWOOD!!!
