Artist Interview: jeffer

Curator’s Statement:

If your scout leader went missing and was replaced by a beastly animal, wouldn’t you begin to wonder what happened and maybe freak out just a little bit? These kids sure haven’t noticed any obvious changes in their troop and are treating this bear just like their original leader. Hopefully one of the children in the back realizes that their new leader’s sudden turn to grunting isn’t because he’s tired and doesn’t want to formulate words. Who knows. Maybe there really isn’t anything to worry about, and the kids are safe because all this bear wants is to prove to the world that he’s capable of doing much more than endorsing toilet paper on television commercials.

Tell us about yourself, Thomas!

Hello everybody, my name is Thomas aka Jeffer. I’m from Germany and currently live Berlin. I studied architecture and hopefully I will finish my engineering studies next year.

Can you tell us a little bit about this design?

The design is about some pathfinder kids losing their pathfinder leader who was devoured by a big bear. Not considering the consequences, the bear finds himself becoming the kids’ leader.

What would you do if you were on this camping trip as a kid?

I think I would like to be the one climbing on the bear’s back, teasing him by pulling his ears and beating him with a branch.

Are there any artists that you look up to?

I actually do not have any specific artists I look up to. I get inspired by many people and my environment.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I draw a lot. These drawings vary from simple characters and sketches to t-shirt designs and graffiti. I’ve recently enjoyed sewing little characters.
