Artist Interview: AtomicChild

Resident Tee Nerd Statement

By: theJCW

Sometimes I just want a shirt to have some bright colorful explosions, cool shapes and a falling yellow monkey guy on it, this one fits the bill. I haven't yet decided if the yellow guy pulled off the chickens head or he came from the inside like everything else. Who removed that chickens head? Maybe all the pollution from the city in the background caused it to pop right off? Whatever the case, It's the most exciting result from a headless chicken I've seen since two weeks ago!

Tell us about Atomic Child and how he became what he is today?

Well I used to go by my actual name for art purposes and I kinda got lost in the crowd. I started using the name AtomicChild and it was easier to find me. Today I am designing Merch for bands and clothing companies fulltime.

Why tshirt design? What was the biggest factor in your developing style?

I tried Editorial Illustration for a long time and it never took off.  Then I stumbled upon threadless 5 years ago and was like artwork on tshirts HELL YEAH. I joined up on the now dead emptees.com and my tshirt design took off.  I am not really sure on the style part it is something that just develops over years of drawing.

What are your favorite sources of inspiration?

Basically just looking at other artist who are successful and the ones who are trying real hard to make it.

If you got in a fight with a bio-mechanical land shark and what would be your weapon of choice?

hmmmm a BIO MECHANICAL SQUID

Favorite movie ever? Any movies that inspire your art?

This is hard. Not sure it is my favorite but I probably watched braveheart a million times.

Where can we find Atomic Child on the interwebs?

www.atomicchild.com is the best place

What would you say to finish this interview if you were the most interesting person in the world?

ROSEBUD
