Artist Interview: JadenKale

Resident Tee Nerd Statement

By: AdderXYU

We'd been working on a seriously epic piece from JadenCollards, but when that fell through, we figured that a piece from everybody's favorite curator would be even better.

What can you ask someone like JadenKale, of whom so much is known already? What questions can really get to the core of her inspiration and personality? To get to those important answers, one must ask important questions, so we dug deep to find some that truly speak to the depth of modern human experience.

Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?

I actually work in an upside-down building, full of magic and illusion. To say this is the real life would be complex to explain, since my real life work is quite fantastical, as is my artwork.

Ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

I’ve danced and sung quite a few songs in the evening, and one Halloween, I remember dancing with someone dressed as the Joker from Batman, so it’s quite possible I danced with the devil in the pale moonlight at one point or another. However, it must not have been particularly stirring if that’s all I can recollect.

Does anybody really know what time it is?

You know, I still don’t know what time it is. I mean, the clock may very well say 12 PM, but it looks like 1 PM, feels like 11 AM and there are some that would lead you to believe that if you look up into the sky and say, “Well, the sun is right over us, so it’s noon,”  it’s actually some crazy timeframe like four to eight minutes later than the time you just stated. All due to the fact it takes a highly scientific equation to determine how long it takes light to travel from the sun to the earth. Regardless of all this, no matter what the time I have my clock set to, it’s still six minutes slower than the punch clock for work.

Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?

I think I’m a bad witch. I bet I’d look pretty damn hot in a black dress, black and white striped stockings and ruby red shoes. Not to mention I could have my own fleet of flying monkeys to whisk me to the store when I’ve run out of curry powder.

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

It sounds like I’m about to partake on a long journey filled with Asian food, chopsticks and poorly written ‘fortunes’ in tiny cookies. I’ll go prepare for the zen-like meditation before the trip!

Do you feel lucky? Well, do you, punk?

I work here, how much more lucky does one need to be? smile That being said, I’d feel luckier if people would check out my page Dreaming At Twilight and see some of my work. I’m currently also working on more pieces not up there yet, so bookmark it, Tee Nerds! And as always, I can be found on Twitter if anyone wants to talk to me about tees, the t-shirt business or just want to partake in goofy commentary.

Finally, what becomes of the broken-hearted?

They sulk and pout. See, it’s because they missed this, or any of the other Tilteed Limited tees due to the fact they plan to purchase tees on the last day, and forget until the next tee is up. My advice? Don’t wait until later... buy it now and be excited for that plastic tee package when it comes in the mail
