Resident Tee Nerd Statement
We're starting a new chapter in the life of Tilteed. What better way to do so than with the same artist who started off our last chapter? Welcome StudioElle back to the site, folks!
Welcome back to Tilteed! How has life been treating you since we last saw you?
It's been a whirlwind. I changed jobs to get experience on a political campaign and decided to start my own freelance business. I now work part-time for an agency and the rest of the time for my company, Studio Elle Designs. One of the sweeter moments was winning two design awards for an annual report I designed and illustrated.
I understand you've gone freelance in recent months. How does running the show compare to working under an agency?
Everything falls to you...it's either all your fault in a bad way or a good way. An agency has checks and balances in place to prevent mistakes. Good thing I'm so OCD, or I'd totally be screwing up. 
You also have to handle all the billing...which isn't much fun for "art people". But, you gotta get paid somehow.
The demise of the unicorn is one of the saddest stories in zoology. What do you think they were doing when they got left behind?
Fornicating while the dragons watched.
These guys probably wish they'd made it to that ark. Is there anything you've almost done and regret not going through with?
I don't really regret anything. Life happens the way God wants it, and I just roll with the flow.
What is the most important lesson (or lessons, if you're feeling wordy) that you've learned in your time as a designer?
Save often. Macs just work better (for designers). Don't let yourself be trapped by rules. Just because something has to be done a certain way, doesn't mean you can't do something different. If you start to limit your design, you limit your creativity.
