FEELING DREAMY
Artist Interview: Tom
Resident Tee Nerd Statement
It's going to be a bright and sunshiney day. Every day. Forever. Promise. At least, if you buy this shirt it will be. Comes complete with all the sunny-ness of our little buddy featured on it, without your face needing to be composed of inferno-hot gaseous flame! How can you seriously resist that?
Welcome to Tilteed! Tell us a little about yourself!
I'm from England, but I live in Thailand now. 'Feeling Dreamy' is my first ever print at a tee shirt competition site.
What got you into tee design? what do you feel is the most fulfilling part of designing?
I saw a link on a site and the picture was of this great little cartoon, the picture linked to a tee site and I've been hooked ever since. Getting feedback is nice and when random people say that they want to buy your stuff, that's pretty cool. I like the idea of somebody, somewhere in the world wearing one of my tees. As for the most fulfilling part, it's making something that is better than you expected or realising the mind's image.
Your little guy over here looks positively giddy with happiness. What makes you this happy?
Finding something new, or doing something new which is enjoyable makes me happy. Also, drawing often makes me happy.
If you could trade hands with any artist and gain their powers, whose would you pick?
I think I would have to pick a musical artist, such as Jimi Hendrix or Kurt Cobain and play some tunes from the dead.
September is totally back-to-school time. What was/is your favorite subject? What was the best book you ever read in a class?
My favourite subject was and will always be Art! The best book I read at school was Julius Caesar, although I didn't really enjoy reading many of the books at school. I was an avid reader when I was younger though.
Where could an interested party see more of your work?
I have a shop on Society 6. Also, if anybody would like to hire me for freelance illustration work, they can contact me at: tombryce949(at)hotmail(dot)com
Any final words for the masses?
Do what you want to do, before it's too late.

Given the title, it certainly could be, given that the photo is apparently from inception.
Given that absolutely nothing about it makes sense parodically or referentially, I would probably give more credence to it being unrelated, but everything is possible. It’d be an incredibly subtle hand at what would amount to an incredibly obscure joke even for the interwebs.

Hello everybody, I hope you all enjoy my hand crafted and hand drawn figure, with it’s own unique background. The image is made up of unique parts and he is a unique character!
Thanks to adder, for selecting the work.
Just to explain about the content or meaning behind the tee, I would like to say that it could be read as just an incredibly happy character or it could be read as a reference with the city imploding and he doesn’t care, because he isn’t even real.
I had better go back to sleep now, was this all a dream?

I appreciate the pleasantness of this shirt.

Hrmm. I’d agree it doesn’t seem to be parodying or referencing the film and/or character (outside of the title), but I also have a hard time believing this was not based on Struttin’ Leo due to the striking similarities in the characters’ clothing and, mostly, near exact bodily positions. But that’s ok - I can’t really see how it matters in this case, whether it’s true or not.
Personally I think he’s so happy because he just quit his job at Wal-Mart.
Congrats on your first Tilteed print, Senor Tom. I’m liking the wide range of styles you’ve presented in your S6 designs.

Thanks Phix & CapSea
Whatever people think that the tee is about, hopefully they like it and they can see the characters happiness! Somebody else mentioned Wal-mart!-He’s like I quit, yeaaaah!
I can confirm that he is strutting, but also that it’s original artwork.
I think the image of the tee could be read in different ways. It could even be an illustrated version of the song, ‘I’m walking on Sunshine’!
