Artist Interview: adamvaudin

Curator’s Statement:

I haven’t seen that many owls in real life, but for some reason I love seeing owl illustrations. I’ve also been on a simplicity kick lately, and this black on heather gray combo just hits the right spot. This illustration by Adam Vaudin is one that I have been a fan of for quite some time now, and I am very happy to be able to share it with all of you for the next three days!

Welcome back to Tilteed, Adam! What have you been up to since we last saw you with your contest winning design, Koi Twins?

Drawing & drawing & painting & drawing. Other then that I’ve been cross-stitching, cycling, sleeping & trying not to sleep.

How did FEATHERS & FORTUNE TELLING come into existence?

I wanted to make an illustration showing my 2 favourite holidays, Halloween & Christmas. I also wanted to draw another owl because they’re awesome creatures & add more symbols/patterns to my work. I was also pretty bored.

What got you into art? Do you have a favorite medium to work on?

I’ve always been into art, so I couldn’t thumbtack a single element of my life that inspired me. I’ve just recently been on a watercolour streak, sometimes with pen/charcoal on top. I think the pen is always my foundation, but painting is really growing on me.

Describe your perfect outfit, including accessories and all.

There’s that scene in The O.C. where Seth’s wearing a red onesie or something. I forget what it’s called. I could live in one of those forever I think.

If you were to make a five-song mixtape titled “Adam Vaudin,” what would the tracklist be?

This would take me hours to choose the perfect songs, so I’m just going to put 5 songs I love.

Clean boxers & my iPod. Half the time I forget my wallet.
