Curator’s Statement:

The new year always seems like a new frontier. People make “resolutions,” starting on a clean slate, or else pushing forward to something new. It’s only another day, but there’s the feeling of anticipation of what will come in the future.

For some of us, that future will contain madcap adventures in the cosmos. It hurts to be that awesome, doesn’t it?

Star Graphic  TILTEED: Gimetzco!

Welcome back! Been up to anything awesome since we last saw you?

Glad to be back! Since we last left off, I’ve been hard at work designing faux comic book covers for various favorite films. The project is called “the Bargain Bin” and will possibly be a calendar as well as having individual poster prints available.

It seems the yeticorn is up to yet more zany hijinx. How’d he end up in space?

Ah that was Uncle Corny as Fall Guy Gus before. Destination Ursa Major is just a daydream Yeti-C had while listening to Superdrag and Blur. Boring story, huh?

Besides Ursa Major, where have you always wanted to travel? Any particular reason?

I was born a world traveler, having lived in Florida, Georgia, Verona Italy, Holland, California & South Carolina. I’ve road tripped across the states twice, and a few times in Europe (however, much of my travels were as a child). I do fancy Switzerland a bunch (both in the summer and the winter) It’s very pretty, so that’s where I’d probably wanna visit most. Though, really, I’m mostly traveled out.

What’s a day in the life of Gimetzco like?

I get up about 5 minutes before my wife goes to work; kiss her goodbye & get online. Check my emails. Open my project resources & photoshop. I then get to work on whatever project it is. By noon, I’m able to take a break and stream some netflix for a bit. Then it’s back to work (intermittent with little breaks here and there as i have to tend the pets as well). Sometimes I kill zombies.

The holidays are coming up. What’s one art-related thing you’d want for whichever gift-giving holiday you may celebrate?

Let’s see, for Christmas, I really want a new computer, one that can support a Cintiq. My current laptop is a CRAPTOP! For Hanukkah, i’d fancy 8 or so reference books from my favorite artists. For Festivus i’d like a new computer, but i’d be re-gifted my old CRAPTOP.

Last time, you talked about your love of comics and vintage posters… to follow up in that vein, do you have any “classical” artists or movements that you also draw inspiration from as well as the more modern sources?

To be honest, no. As a kid in the library I’d look through museum/art history books & never bee that into it. Just seeing all the different pieces was what i was interested, but i cannot remember a single painting that had me inspired. But something like the art of Jack Davis (Tales From the Crypt, MAD) really impresses me.

As always, we’ll end by opening the floor to you… any final words?

Well, if any Tilteed fans like this design enough to hang on their walls, I have an Etsy store with hand pulled screen prints available. It would be a Holiday Miracle if anyone bought anything from my shop! http://www.etsy.com/shop/gimetzco

I get fonder of it with every visit, especially now that I’ve looked into the history of the yeticorn.  My wallet gets no fuller though so I’ll be waiting for the movie.
