Bonjour, Bastien! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your art!

My real name is Quignon bastien. I’m 24 years old and I am author of comics in France. I studied in Belgium for four years, training in comics. After graduation, I sent my final project for publishers.

I like talking about teenagers, social relationships in my stories. I work with pencils and oil of turpentine.

My first book, “Trois jours en été”, is published by Actes Sud. I am currently drawing the second: It is a question of integration of a young man with mental disabilities.

Your work has a certain hand-made flair to it that many shirt designers do not implement as much these days. What are your preferred mediums, and why are you most comfortable with them?

I rarely work with inks. Not even with vectorization software. Actually, I do not find useful. I like simple things. With the pencil, get the details and subtleties that I can not work with this software.

Billy looks pretty relaxed fishing. Is this something you relate to?

It’s true, I have fish. And they are even close to my office. It avoids feeling alone while I work.

I find that with art, music is rarely far behind. Who are some of your favorite musicians that help inspire your work?

I often draw with the Kings of Leon. Or listen to a lot of podcast like Kitsunenoir every Friday. I love the Jurassic Five and Blackalicious.

If you could get to work for a dream client, who would it be, and what sort of work would you want to do?

I feel good at the moment. I write and draw my story at home without stress. But I will like to meet and exchange a few words Gipi.
