AGRAVICULTURE
Artist Interview: Attila

TILTEED CURATOR: dunz0
Curator’s Statement:
Wouldn’t it be cool if we could just momentarily turn off (or at least decrease) the gravitational pull on Earth? By the looks of the scene depicted in Attila’s design, everyone seems to be enjoying their time floating in the sky, confused as they may be. I’d love to experience this firsthand, but since this on/off switch doesn’t exist in real life, I’ll just live vicariously through these farmers and their animals! I’m sure that things would turn chaotic with this switch anyway.

Hello, Attila! Tell us about yourself?
Hi! I’m an illustrator and designer from Berlin. I’ve lived here for six years and I love this city so much. It’s the best place to live in my opinion.

What was your inspiration behind Agraviculture?
Originally I’m from a small village with cows and meadows and only 400 inhabitants. Maybe this background makes me draw farmers and agricultural situations again and again. In this case, I wanted to have the farmers float around like they would in space.

You’re a part of the design collective known as Peachbeach. Can you tell us about that?
We three members came to Berlin to study graphic design. We met each other on a so-called “creative weekend” that was organized by some guys of our university. On this weekend, loads of cool people traveled to the countryside to draw, paint and doodle between lakes, forests and flowers. In the evening, everybody partied hard and so we came in contact. On the next day we painted our first canvas together and realized that we worked well in a team. After that weekend, we painted a lot together and organized an exhibition and then Peachbeach was born.
What are some of your favorite things to do when you’re not illustrating?
I love music, especially all kinds of electronic dance music. That’s why my main activity besides drawing is DJing. On Sundays I generally do nothing that has anything to do with my job. I like to discover the city with my girlfriend.

What’s your favorite snack food of all time?
Fast food is my vice! I really like burgers, Köfte, Wok noodles, and what’s popular in Berlin: Döner kebab. This was invented here!
Where can we go to look at more of your illustrations?
Actually, I have an exhibition with huge screenprints in the Supalife Kiosk Gallery in Berlin.
