Curator’s Statement:

What would the world be like without computers or the Internet, or even common things like wheels or toothbrushes? We may take these things for granted now, but without many bright minds and a whole lot of creativity, we wouldn’t have half of what we do today. Lucky for us, our society is constantly coming up with new ideas and inventing new, useful items. Let your mind run free. The age of innovation is now.

What’s the story behind Age of Innovation?

It was just one of those ideas that turned into something a little more epic as I worked on it. I had a great stock image of the man’s brain anatomy and continued adding elements to it that developed into the final piece. I wanted it to feel poetic, but still whimsical. I tried adding as much detail and side imagery as I could to really make it a unique piece. It kind of reminded me of an I Spy book by the end, with small but essential imagery like the spider and web hanging from the flowers, the small set of keys opposite, and even the airship has a tiny captain looking through a telescope out to the horizon.

How did you get your start in t-shirt design? Do you work on other mediums as well?

It was more or less an experiment, but I found out quickly it was a great creative outlet. I do it for freelance on top of graphic design, and it really helps me get those ideas out that you just can’t use for most companies. As far as other mediums, I am really into sculpture and 3D modeling right now. Being able to create things in 3D is just that next step and something so fascinating.

In your opinion, what is the greatest invention or discovery of all time?

I’m gonna say it’s a tie between soft toilet paper and the Internet. Life is just that much more difficult without them.

Other than designing, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

My favorite thing is playing guitar. It’s a great way to fill spare time, or more importantly, times when you can’t think of any good ideas for designing. Also I enjoy going to the movies. They are just so entertaining these days, especially the 3D ones.

What’s one thing that you want to accomplish within the next five years?

Well, definitely get out of grad school and get to work in my dream job, 3D modeling. I should be done in a year though, and will hopefully be good enough to work at a major studio/game company. Although it sucks realizing you’ve replaced one tough industry with an even tougher one, but oh well…

really nice collage work.  I especially like the color choice of the burgundy ribbon on the creme shirt.  I also like the movement and flow of the design.

continued excellence Tilteed!

Good choice of design and tee colors used. The clock makes it a no-brainer for me since I am a watch collector. However, I really do like the design and I enjoyed the artists website as well.
