Only $18

We were going to print this as part of the ‘Limited’ series, but Hector, aka againstbound is just far too awesome. So we’re adding this to our catalog. Get it now for $12, or later for $18!

This is a two color print on a white American Apparel t-shirt.

Curator’s Statement:

Againstbound is a Tilteed favorite for many reasons, not the least of which because his style is made of awesome. This is his third catalog print with us, and we couldn’t be happier. Vinyl Frontier is perfect for rockers and spacemen alike. If you know David Bowie, you should probably buy him two.

Welcome back to Tilteed! What sort of amazing things have been going on since we last saw you?

Thanks, it’s nice to be back! And I’m sure there’s been tons of amazing things going on everywhere, and I probably missed them all while drawing and playing videogames.

Space and music are common themes in your work. Besides pure awesomeness, what about them inspires you?

Space is mainly just cause it looks cool, no big deal there, just sometime I like. Music on the other hand is with no doubt a huge part of my life, it’s somthing I can turn to no matter how good or bad I’m feeling and it always breathes life into me, so I try to work music into my designs as often as I can, no specific bands/songs, but more the feel/idea of it.

image

The classic againstbound style is really refreshing. Whose styles do you find most refreshing and different from what else is out there?

I’ll probably sound like a broken record but again I’ll mention the one and only Sonmi-chick, her work is always refreshing and I just love looking at it even if it does make me feel bad about my own skills afterwards.

Other than us, obviously, what has been your most exciting opportunity to come from shirt art, and are there any clients/artists you’d most like to work with in the future?

Most definitely my first print at threadless.I live in a small, lame, cultureless city in Mexico, the graphic design/art scene here pretty much sucks (the little there is), the agencies suck, the clients suck and my fellow designers suck (for the most part), and to a degree I had if not settled, at least thought that I would be confined to this working environment; and that print at threadless showed my could go further and I have been pushing myself ever since. Now I’m getting payed to do what I like from the comfort of my home and working for great clients like Tilteed.

As for the future I would love to get into cd art, hopefully sooner than later. I think my style wouldn’t fit most of the bands I like, though, haha, but I’m sure there’s other bands I’m unaware of that would be swell to work with.

Beard or hair: which one do your superpowers truly come from?

If I told you my enemies could get a hold of that information and try to use it against me, so I’ll have to leave this one unanswered.

Some people are scared of white t-shirts. Could you give a few words to help them ease their concerns?

There’s other things you should be scared of, like sharks and gorilla cyborgs. Plus white tees are pretty cool guys, once I was at the beach and dropped my just-bought ice-cream on the ground, my eyes got all watery but just before I bursted into tears a white t-shirt approached me and bought me another one and gave me a very cool balloon and put a smile right back on my face; and despite of what happened after I’m pretty sure it wasn’t just hunting for tail.

Any final words?

Avoid the Noid.

I’ve love this tee so much, it inspired a piece I did recently. I’m so glad to see it printed, and I can’t wait to get mine :D

To avoid confusion, this WAS originally in line to print as a limited piece, but an opportunity came up that we knew this design would be perfect for, so we came together and decided to purchase it straight out. While this scenario is far from becoming common, we hope to continue to have similar opportunities arise, for our customers, our artists, and the general awesomeness of our catalog.

We hope you love the piece. We’re always happy to see Hector’s work around these parts.
