Tell us a little bit more about this design.

It’s creepy! I mean, what in the hell is in that carriage? I found this image of a vintage baby stroller that seemed pretty creepy on it’s own, but I got to thinking, what could I fill it with to make the image darker/creepier/weirder… and here we are! I’m a big horror/creep fan, so the idea of marrying these two images to make something kinda odd just seemed meant to be for me. I am super excited that this design found a home at Tilteed. It’s one of my favorite collage-based pieces that I’ve created.

What projects are you working on currently that you’re excited about?

I just put in an order for some new “DCAY” T-shirt prints that will be available in my web store soon (now accepting preorders)! I am always developing artwork for new clients that I rarely make anything just for personal use, so I am in the process of producing some of my favorite personal pieces of work onto T-shirts that will be available through my portfolio site. It’s been a long time coming, and I am extremely excited to release these new tees. If all works out well, I’d like to eventually put out a new “DCAY” Tee every month. Be on the look-out, kiddies!

How long have you been designing t-shirts?

I started designing T-shirts while I was in a fraternity in college. In a fraternal organization, you’re always printing up T-shirts for various social events, and they’re usually cookie-cutter design ideas that are hand picked out of a catalog that tons of other organizations order from…. boring. So I started to design shirts for
my Frat, usually using some sort of parody or topical theme as the punchline of it, and they were always a hit. The frat I belong to has some very distinguished alumni (Bob Barker, Harrison Ford, KITT from Knight Rider) so there was always excellent shirt ideas in the making right there to start with.

Which artists do you love the most right now?

As for other T-shirt artists, I am a big fan of “Electric Suicide”. His stuff is great… so modern and experimental. He’s got a terrific sense on how to pair the classy with the morbid, all bound together with this sort of retro flare that he has branded for himself. It’s genius. He’s recently been doing work for some really awesome T-shirt lines, too.

As for other artists, I recently saw an excellent documentary on the late Keith Harring, and currently have a new found love and respect for his work. I never realized the actual scale of his murals… simply unbelievable, and he made it look oh so easy to do.
