Tell us a little bit more about the inspiration for this design.

I have been very interested in traditional and other styles of tattoo art. I really like the realistic hearts some of the artists do, so I decided to do my own with a slight cartoony style I guess you would call it. So this was just a personal design at first but after a few comments on it from others I thought I should try enter it in this competition, lucky I did.

Are there any artists/designers that you wish you could be for a day?

Well, where to begin. One of my favorite artists is Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins, if you haven’t seen his work search for him now! So he is definitely a person I would like to be. And in the design area there is a tie between two. First off is Chad Lenjer, he was one of the first great designers that made me want to work in this field. And secondly, Dan Mumford…..nothing is needed to be said here, if you know him you know why.

Are there any projects you’re currently working on that you’re really excited about?

Well I’m currently doing an art major for school, so that has stopped me from taking any new clients. I did just complete two works that I really like. First one is a robot fight for the band “I See Stars” and the other is my take on the tortoise and the hare which is for a new clothing brand called “Voca Six Attire”. I’ll soon be starting to work with a local band so look out on my site for updates on that.

If you couldn’t work as an artist/designer, what would you be doing?

Well that is like asking a monkey, if you couldn’t be a monkey what would you be? See it will try being other things but it will fail. But seriously I haven’t really thought about it, maybe attempt to open a small store to sell clothes, shoes, prints, vinyl toys, magazines/books……and yes I wouldn’t make enough money to have a successful life but it would be fun, maybe one day I will open this store.

Just letting you all know that once I finish my major art I’ll be making a proper presence in the graphic design scene, I’ll have all the time to do my works and hopefully I don’t become lazy and I do spend all my free time illustrating.
