Machine Art is a.mar.illo’s second print here at Tilteed. His first, a t-shirt called ‘Expansion,’ was the 2nd place winner ($1500!) in our launch contest.
a.mar.illo says this about Machine Art:
Machine Art is inspired by the arts and aesthetics of the twenties in Germany, so you’ll probably see a bit of DADA reference going on here.
Painters such as George Grosz, Otto Dix or Kurt Schwitters also come to mind, but there is no direct reference to them. I was just trying to bring a classical touch into a piece of design for 2009.
When I was doing this I actually didn’t think of what the years 1929 and 2009 have in common: The recession. But afterwards there seems to be a tiny little bit of sense in a non-sense artwork;)
