Tell us a little bit more about the inspiration for this design.

Most people know I have developed a reputation for doodle shirts. I have had quite a few printed and a lot of people ask for them. Well with this design I wanted to do a darker doodle. I actually did three designs based around the same dark idea, (I seem to work in sets for some reason). Anyway, I was working with the idea of death and how if comes to us all. So why not enjoy a guilty pleasure or two before we depart?

Tell us about the show you recently did and if you have plans for more in the future.

Yes I was recently part of a show at Hibbleton in Orange County and it was very satisfying. I went to the opening night, met a few people and blushed a little when people complimented me. The internet shields you from that in a bad way. I’d definitely like to do more shows. When I move to L.A next year I hope to be involved a lot more in the gallery scene out there. I’ve also been involved in a few shows this side of the pond too.

More important for an artist: Talent or Dedication?

Yikes! That’s a hard question but a good one. I think you have to have a degree of talent or at least some skill to build on. I believe as an artist I should never stop evolving and pushing to be better. I believe you have to at least be able to draw to elevate yourself in this industry. Dedication is absolutely imperative to success. I have spent the last two years working non stop. I would work more if the day allowed it. No one makes it without a certain degree of hard work, in my opinion.

At the movie theater where are we more likely to find you: Action, Horror, Comedy, or Drama?

If I am with my wife, Romantic Comedy which is fine if I am looking for entertainment. I actually love movies that leave a taste in my mouth, something to ponder. I also love a movie that pushes the visual elements like Pan’s Labyrinth, Amelie or Donnie Darko. I like dark movies, but anything goes. I will watch anything. Where the Wild Things Are is a movie that will probably make me explode as I have so much respect for the book.

Any projects that have you excited at the moment?

I am very excited about two projects I am working on. One I can’t say much about but the other is furniture based, which is a completely new medium for me. I love designing T-shirts but I also love an opportunity to try something new, a new challenge.
