THE BLUE-FOOTED BOOBY DANCE OF SEDUCTION

Tell us a little bit more about this design and the inspiration behind it.
I originally learned about the blue-footed booby dance in the book Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut. His description of it had me laughing out loud and I fell in love with the bird before I even knew what it looked like. I thought it would be fun to give the hard workin’ booby males their due.
How did you first get into t-shirt design?
I was dragged into shirt design kicking and screaming by my sister-in-law, then quickly realized how fun and challenging it was. Once I got a shirt printed I was hooked.
What’s a day in the life of a character designer for a gaming company like?
It’s my dream job. I get to draw up characters, model and texture them in 3D, and watch animators bring them to life. The company I work for is very low key and great to work for. From my office window I can see ducks, geese, otters, and the occasional bald eagle.
What’s your favorite thing about the Pacific Northwest?
The people are generally much nicer than anywhere I’ve lived before. That, and it’s beautiful year round.

This shirt is more than the sum of its parts. Each bird is a character—Mick Jagger for example. It is humor and biology combined. The map adds a great touch and the colors are perfect. This shirt will have strangers stopping you for a better look. It deserves to win because its is fantastic!!
