Web Cartoonist and t-shirt designer Dekonstruct brings us the dreams of Brontosnorous - the Brontosaur who dreams of saving the world and perhaps reclaiming recognition of his species by the scientific community. Kind of like Pluto - was a planet, wasn't a planet, is a planet again, we think. Printed on a white American Apparel t-shirt, this is a 1 color print.

Curator’s Statement:

I remember dinosaurs being the big thing in our house when I was a kid. My brother actually loved his dinosaur models and had great adventures in his room and back yard. Dekon’s t-shirt is exactly what I could see my brother believing his brontosaurus dreamed about. Add that stark black on white contrast, and it holds a vintage comic feel that I will be proud to wear over and over again.

What was the design process behind this piece?

Originally it was for a woot derby. I spent a long time trying to draw a T-Rex, but they are strange looking creatures when you really think about it. Eventually I found the humble Brontosaurus much closer to my own temperament. Later, I was very upset to hear it didn’t actually exist, which is why the comet hit the earth and all the other “real” dinosaurs died. All of this is true.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself.

I used to draw cartoons on every piece of paper I could find. Then I got married and had a real job for a while. Now I’m putting a portfolio together to get a job as a 3D modeler. I will probably end up painting very large canvas’ white over a period of years.

Just WTF is WTTF.org?

It once stood for Welcome To The Future, and it was a daily cartoon beamed directly from the future and into my brain. Then for a while it stood for all kinds of explicatives. Now it’s just WTTF. It’s free, no ads, no sense, no reason, just fun.

What is the ultimate dream job for a guy like you?

News correspondent on loneliness and despair.

What is your crutch? Surely you have a favorite food you absolutely must eat, a game you’ve got to beat…?

Very loud music. When I say music, I mean it in the John Cage sense. Many people liken my favorite music to the sound of planes falling out of the sky, or trains passing, or things being dragged by a car.

Any links you’d like to shamelessly promote?

No thanks, I think question 3 took care of that.

Anything else you want to tell Tilteeders?

The most important opinion on your art is your own. (A close second is your spouse)

Thank you very much every one, and especially Jaden. She’s the reason it finally got printed.

I’m glad I saw this in time. Voted for it on woot, and just bought it here.
