I’m on a hoodie hunt. Weather’s gotten crisper, wind’s picking up, there are places to walk to. Then I pull out my collection of mid weight zip up sweatshirts, in all their monochromatic moodiness. Compared to the variety of attitude influencing t-shirts I own, the sweatshirts seem dull. Warm but dull.
It’s a good time to be looking. Hoodies are dropping everywhere, including here at Tilteed. A sneak peek of Craig Watkins’ Dead Head hoodie on the back of a hoodie created a buzz. The finished product is a good example of how striking a single color design can be; I really like the intricacy and how large it looms. But skulls are not on the list of things I want to wear. Score points for placement though.
Yes, design on the back of the hoodie, please. Most of them are made so they zip up the front, right through the design, which doesn’t attract me. I don’t like a split design. It seems lazy to just ignore the fact there’s a zipper in the middle of the graphic. There are some clever ones out there, but I see them more as one off jokes, not something I want to bundle myself into every day.
So I looked around. And fell in love with 7th Ink’s new, limited For Glory hoodie, a 300 inspired Spartan helmet in metallic gold on black. Striking, spare and shiny (yes, shiny), it’s an amazing visual splash. If you like a glimpse of garter or guitar instead, Blackheart Records also has some cool options. For cartoony, Holebrain has two fun options, one complete with brain.

So yes, I’m armoring up for colder weather. But I sense that the hoodie hunt will continue, so I’ve been considering designs that Tilteed (hint, hint) could put on the back of future efforts. My short list: the nicely bold Beware the Moors, the cute Spyglass and/or the thought provoking Old and Wise. Of these, Spyglass is my top choice. Brown’s a nice personable color and I like the idea of my hoodie saying Hello as I’m saying goodbye.
Agree with me, disagree with me: say so in the darn comments, thank you.
