I’m a sucker for puns (ruined by Rocky and Bullwinkle at a young age). A pun in your company name or on your t-shirt is a good way to grab my attention. So a company called Threads or Tales immediately tweaked my interest on Twitter. Then I checked into their prelaunch secret sale and was impressed with Greg Abbot’s cheerful lime pirate Cyclops.

The full line continues the bright monstery cheer: vivid colors, bold art, regular and V-neck American Apparel t-shirt styles with seven designs to choose from, two by Abbot. I suspect that for all their cuteness, the monsters aren’t too sugary with descriptions like “Brock the Rock who was a master chef that didn’t mind eating his friends.”
Which brings us to what really intrigues me: the emphasis on storytelling. They really mean the “tales” part of Threads or Tales. As they say: “we believe every shirt has a story.” And that story gets printed under the tag, inside the collar of every shirt. I tend to find stories in the characters on my t-shirts as well. So I’m very curious to see what shenanigans the Threads or Tales stable of monsters have been caught in the middle of. For starters, I want to know how the unnamed penguin and his friend ended up on a bright yellow beach with an ice cream cone and a surfboard.

Threads or Tales, whichever way the coin lands, you’re in for a fun story.
