T-shirt Blog Review: Tee Magnet

Posted by lonelypond on November 11 2010

T-shirts are a good hobby for an insomniac.  At 1 a.m. here, at least three sites put up new shirts EVERY NIGHT.  New visuals, a new opportunity to try to figure out which way the universe leans, an overview of what pieces of culture someone thinks someone else might buy.  So I take a break from whatever I’m working on (like this review) or minimize Tweetdeck and head over to Tee Magnet.

One of my favorite things about Tee Magnet is the clean layout, no word clutter.  It is a grid of images, eight art t-shirt sites and their current offerings, no commentary, just thumbnails with the artist name underneath, there for you to make your own decisions.  You can have a quick laugh at a successfully rendered pun, puzzle over what the artist was thinking or wonder how many people are actually buying Lost or Star Wars shirts.

In the lower left corner pocket, my favorite feature sits: the amazing Shirt Watch.  This also changes every day, has a one sentence commentary and leads me all over the t-shirt universe.  The shirts, sites and artists that get a Shirt Watch mention feature a diversity of excellence.  I often click through to find a site worth watching.  My thanks to MJ for finding and sharing so much t-shirt art worth seeing.

Yes, there are sites where the blogger will tell you exactly why (and why not) the t-shirt being reviewed is a success.  I like Tee Magnet because it lets the t-shirts speak for themselves.

So go to Tee Magnet and see the latest offerings from Tilteed, TeeFury, Shirt.Woot, Ript Apparel, Design By Humans, Uneetee, Stupid Hurts and a “Cool Stuff” slot currently showcasing a SockMonkee sale.  Tee Magnet won’t tell you what to think about any of the designs.  It just provides the view.

You will also find a column of coupon codes saving you money or a mention of sales at various sites.  Today’s list contains 23 deals ranging from 5% to 25% off and a column of the linked logos of “other great sites.”

Everything you need.  Almo$t.
